The origins of Blood Squad are ancient, dating back at least as far as 2005. It was around that time that three long-time improv comedians (Brandon Felker, Elicia Wickstead & Michael White) first came together to do a 20 minute performance at a show called "Cage Match". They had no idea what they wanted to do, and it was until moments before they stepped onstage that they decided they would do a Slasher film. It was a subgenre of horror that they knew and loved. It turned out the audience did too. The show was a smash hit success, exciting and blowing the faces off all sixteen people that were there to see it. The trio thought of it as a one-time thing and once again went off into different directions. For a long time the hilarious beast they had unknowingly unleashed was silent. Then the beast began to call to them. Each member of the trio had an itch, and then a pustule, and then an outright infection, NOT doing the show was killing them. The only way to expunge the infection was to get onstage again as the slasher loving trio. And thus, Blood Squad was born. Their official birth date is August 24th 2006, when Blood Squad traveled to Portland for a weekend of shows. They were greeted with...well, with nothing. All of their friends and fellow performers had blown town that weekend. That first weekend was a real learning experience. Since then, Blood Squad has played to sold-out venues all over Seattle. In August of 2008 the once three-person Squad added their fourth and awesome member, Molly Arkin. Although still new, she has already developed a taste for blood. Currently, they reside at the Odd Duck Studio performing every Saturday night at 10:30pm to packed, sweaty, audiences. You can easily spot a Blood Squad fan on the street, they're the ones with their faces blown off. |
